Description: Mat Hoffman Haro knee pad that he wore during the 87 or 88 season. Still has the original duct tape he used to secure the strap. The last item remaining after clearing out my personal vintage BMX/freestyle collection that I started in 1986 at the age of 12.My 1 of 3 Hutch helmets for the '87 freestyle team, '86 Trick Star, and my '88 Haro Team Master were the last to go before I pulled this out of another box I had stored away. I grew up in the Rockville area and literally rode and hung out at the famed Rockville BMX shop nearly every day and was a regular at all the summer freestyle shows. I acquired this knee pad after Mat Hoffman threw it from the top of the vert ramp out into the crowd after his last run. If memory serves me right he wasn't sponsored by Haro yet and was riding on or for Skyway. Mat wasn't famous at the time and never thought of getting an autograph. Just sat around with the rest of my many other parts, gear, posters, magazines, and accessories. No way to show proof that he actually wore this pad, but I probably wouldn't have been in hanging on to it for 38 years unless it carried some sort of importance. There is a vintage photo of a magazine shoot of him at the Rockville show wearing them. Searching for it now and will post up if found. Feel free to send an offer.
