Sharp's clients included many popular musicians of the day, such as Bob Dylan and Donovan. In his most popular designs, the artist embedded letters, photographs, and bizarre cartoon figures into psychedelic patterns. Life's a total experiment, Sharp once said. You never know what's going to happen and you've got to be able to move fast. Born on January 21, 1942 in Bellevue Hill, Australia, he went on to attend the National Art School in Sydney. After finishing school, the artist moved to London, where he gained national attention for his work as an artistic director for the popular satirical magazine Oz. Sharp died on December 1, 2013 in Bellevue Hill, Australia. Today, his works are in the collections of the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
