Description: This is a dyed black /very dark brown woven cotton, decorated with crimped aluminum strips hat. It was made in Mali, Africa, in the mid to late 20th century. The Gorowije Ine is worn by Dogon men. When flat, it measures approximately 6" wide at the top, 8" wide at bottom x 6" tall at the front and 8" tall in the back. The fringe measures 9" long x 5" wide. The fringe is the best part of this hat. In my opinion, it gives the hat movement and style. The aluminum decoration is woven through the loom weaved cotton canvas and pounded flat. Condition is very good. I believe this is a museum quality piece. There is some minor damage to the chin strap. Please see all the photos carefully, and feel free to message me with any questions. Thank you.
