Description: VINTAGE Maitland Smith? Brown/Black Penshell Jewelry Box Chest - Dark Shell Inlay With Brass Metal Trim Inlay Hollywood Regency style.Unlined, natural wood interior. Brass hinged lid. Dark brown and black tortoise shell colors inlaid in a geo cubed, checkerboard pattern. Research shows identical boxes made by Maitland Smith with a gold foil label on the brown velvet covered bottom. This item does not have a label. However it matches Maitland Smith's unique interior design style. From research and experience in selling several Maitland Smith pieces, it is inlaid with pen shell, not stone. Actual Dimensions: About 12" long by 8" wide by abt. 4" high. Wt. 3 lbs. 4 oz. It will be double boxed, packed with extra paddingand bubble for shipping. Condition: Vintage. No missing tiles or chips on the inlay. Hinges on lid are tight. Brass has light patina. Some of the white marks in our photos are part of the natural pattern or grain while some are reflections from our camera. Has some small divets on the surface and minor scuffs that do not detract from the beauty of this quality made piece. The velvet covering the bottom has some scuffs as shown but it's complete.
