Description: Victor Musical Masterworks Series M-63 (complete three disk set) 1929Smetana Quartet No. 1 in E Minor ("From My Life") Flonzaley QuartetAdolfo Betti, Alfred Pochon, Nicolas Moldavan, Iwan d'Archambeau Recorded March 1929 and released the same year Victrola scroll labels - original first issue'M' Manual sequence Overall grading 6/10 Shellac disks show overall light signs of handling Disk 1: condition 9/10Disk 2: condition 7/10 shows moderate wearDisk 3: condition 6/10 shows more wear than disk 2 and two defects belowDefects: Disk 3: Very small edge chip which does not go near the grooves. Side 5: About 10 grooves near the label have seen the worse end of a steel needle, will distort. For Victrola label pressings we check for micro bubbling, pitting, inclusions and excessive fiber. The quality of the shellac of this type looks better than average - relatively low fiber content and does not seem to have micro-pitting or those little reflective bits that tend to produce hiss. Album: Buckram Flower-pocket (maroon) - first issue Library pocket inside front with a library card. Pocket for book attached to insideFront: Clean looking buckram, gold ink is about 85% of original, writing on cover, a couple of marks, minor edge wear.Spine: Gold ink about 85% of original, completely readable, ex-libra marking at bottom, repair along one edge at the top.Pockets: Original flower pockets intact, librarian cloth tape at bottom seams, side seams perfect. Small writing on first pocketInformation Booklet: Original 12-leaf booklet included, pages are separated at the booklet spine i.e.: each page is loose. 1.5" of tape on the cover page, small number stamp, some stains on front page, general even wear to booklet. Grading, Shipping and Returns: Grading 78's is somewhat of an art learned over decades and is always improving. We carefully inspect every set visually to detail all anomalies seen including manufacturing quality and materials.Still it is not possible to describe everything such as a fingerprint, a very light scuff or abrasion, a superficial and light scratch that will not sound, a very light needle trace and slight variance in original manufacturing and materials. While we do try to mention all such flaws these are considered normal and likely exist on every used 78RPM record. Kindly be reminded that these are used items from the early 20th century. The size of our inventory prohibits us from play-grading all offerings but we will entertain special requests. Generally we do not accept returns after it has been handed off to the carrier for shipping. This helps to keep prices low as possible. To assist with your understanding of the quality of the listing we provide rather excessive detail in the Description/grading section.Still, mistakes happen! If there is an obvious mistake on our part we will execute a return/refund. Shellac records and sets are wrapped and floated in a box with a medium to absorb the shock of the package getting dropped and thrown. We've seen everything - boxes impaled with a rod, crushed, run over, well I guess not delivered on fire, but still..We will assist you with your USPS insurance claim but cannot accept responsibility for these Acts of God on your package :)For high dollar or very rare sets we will double box and recommend using a Priority or Express shipping service rather than Media Mail. Use combined shipping on multiple items to save shipping costs:Add items to your cart and "Request Total" so we can send you an adjusted invoice. In any case we will refund any extra paid for shipping as soon as we pack the orders. International shipping: Please do not pay for an item until you receive our adjusted invoice.Any automatically generated shipping rate for International packages will not be correct.Welcome to ask in advance. If you live somewhere that packages have a tendency to go missing please take necessary precautions to avoid this.We can only provide you the tracking number after we ship using the agreed carrier and do not have control over the package after that. We do not mark packages to illegally evade VAT or other duties.
