LP, Florence & Fredric March - "...and his youth.." PRIV, 1964 TED KENNEDY??

Description: VERY INTERESTING RARE PRIVATELY PRODUCED SPOKEN WORD ALBUM, FEATURING WIFE AND HUSBAND, FLORENCE AND FREDRIC MARCH, DOING READINGS. THIS COPY IS SEALED!! It is fully titled, "...and his youth has become eternal", and the readings occurred on August 27, 1964. The only other copy of this I can find is provided in discogs, where one can see photos of the labels. Tracks on Sides 1 and 2 are simply listed there as: AReadings By Florence And Fredrich March - August 27, 1964 Atlantic City, New JerseyBReadings By Florence And Fredrich March - August 27, 1964 Atlantic City, New Jersey I have found that indeed there was an event at the White House on August 27, 1964, a little over a year from the assassination of John F. Kennedy, featuring Florence and Fredrich March doing readings of some of John F. Kennedy's favorite passages. Here are snippets from an article on this event from The New York Times, August 27, 1964 issue, found online: TITLE: MRS. KENNEDY PLANS A RECEPTION TODAY Mrs. John F. Kennedy and two sisters‐in‐law will fly here tomorrow for a memorial reception honoring the President. The former First Lady does not plan to visit Convention Hall but she will greet delegates at the reception at the Deauville Hotel. Mrs. Kennedy will fly back to Newport, R. I., or New York after the five‐hour reception that starts at 12:30 P.M. Mrs. Kennedy is scheduled to arrive at Atlantic City Airport from New York aboard the family plane Caroline at about 11:30 A.M. She will be accompanied by Mrs. Peter Lawford, wife of the movie actor, and another sister‐in‐law, Mrs. Stephen Smith. Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson will stand in a receiving line with Mrs. Kennedy at the reception. The 5,260 delegates and alternates—the only invited guests —will come to the reception in three relays. Guests will gather first in a ballroom to hear Fredric March and his wife, Florence Elridge, read selections of Mr. Kennedy's favorite quotations from the Bible and the classics. After this 15‐minute session, Mrs. Kennedy will make a brief speech." A CURIOUS ASPECT OF THIS COPY OF THE LP IS THE PRESENCE OF, "Ted and Joan Kennedy" on the front cover. It is not on the cover of the listing on discogs. I presume they may have been the sponsor, or a partial sponsor, of this private production, but that is just a guess. The images of the labels on discogs do not show any mention of Ted and Joan Kennedy, and the back of this LP is blank. Finally, a word about the title of this LP. In 1944, JFK learned of the death of his brother-in-law, William Cavendish, Marquess of Hartington (Billy Hartington). Billy married Kathleen Kennedy, JFK's sister. Upon learning of this tragedy, JFK wrote a letter of condolence to Duchess Mary, Hartington's mother. The hand-written letter is equal parts eloquent and emotional, with Kennedy drawing parallels between Hartington and Raymond Asquith, who died in the First World War. Here is a passage from that letter, which contains the quote on the front cover of this LP: "When I read Caption Waterhouse's letter about the cool and gallant way Billy died, I couldn't help but think of what John Buchan had written about Raymond Asquith 'Our roll of honour is long, but it holds no nobler figure. He will stand to those of us who are left as an incarnation of the spirit of the land he loved...He loved his youth, and his youth has become eternal. Debonair and brilliant and brave, he is now part of that immortal England which knows not age or weariness or defeat'. " RARE AND INTERESTING KENNEDY COLLECTIBLE LP FROM 1964, STILL SEALED!!! R12
