Description: This gorgeous, unusual needlepoint picture features a beautiful Asian woman (a Geisha, perhaps?) in a colorful flowing coat with six parasols. The piece is beautifully executed in bright red, green, and blue - great primary colors. Her coat is a lighter yellow shade with red and green berry pattern and blue and white checkered trim. I don't know the exact age of this piece, but believe the estimate the 1990's based on the color palette and a similar listed piece. I expect the piece was likely made from a published pattern, but could not locate it in any searches. The piece is framed with a narrow, solid wood frame in a bamboo pattern, stained a dark oak brown. It has a cream colored wide matte with a celery green inner border. The matte colors are neutral and will work with many different interior color palettes. The picture measures about 9 1/4 inches wide and is 14 3/4 inches in height, portrait orientation - a nice medium-sized narrow piece. The piece is in very good condition. The frame has some minor scuffs from wear, consistent with age. The matte is in great condition with no fading, stains, spots or holes. The needlework picture also in wonderful condition - no fading, stains, loose threads, unraveling or holes. There are some small dings in the picture's paper backing that look like they are the pins originally used to secure the needlepoint canvas to the mounting board. They do not affect the quality of the image, and the canvas is no danger of coming loose from the mounting and frame. See photos for more details.
