Description: This is a lot of 6 vintage and antique rare perfume bottles, most of them nearly full with some evaporation from age. The lot includes: 1. A Jeanne d'Arc Narcisse toilet water which is BROKEN, but I was able to save most of the contents. It smells very similar to Sunflowers to me, but with a big dose of civet (but that's a note I pick up on easily) . It has the original baudruche silk cord, and comes in both original boxes. The neck and stopper are broken off. There was a defect in the crystal that I didn't see until it was too late and it broke along the vein when trying to force the stopper. If you can find a glass worker, they can probably repair this for you. It has a beautiful cut floral and line pattern, so if you grind the edges it might make a nice bud vase. The contents are decanted into the brown boston round bottle you see in the photos. 2.) A bottle of French Carnation (Oeillet) Maritine with the original box and rubber inner seal. It still smells excellent. It has a bit of genuine tuberose essence and so it has a bit of a bubblegum effect while not feeling juvenile. There is some discoloration and staining to the box, but is still beautiful for display. The colors are slightly more vivid than the photos show. My guess is 1940s. 3.) A vial of Harmony of Boston Lilac Bountiful. It has notes of Lilac, narcissus, tonka, and civet to my nose. My guess is that this bottle is from the 20s or 30s. 4.) A bottle of Juneve with original price labels. This one leaked terribly in transit and so I lost most of the contents and it smudged the beautiful calligraphy on the golden butterfly label. The scent in this one has definitely aged and is a bit heat warped, but the dry down is a pleasant, spicy fougere with notes of almond, tonka, fern, and sweet grass/hay. 5.) A refill bottle of Forvil 5 Fleurs. This was one of their most famous and best-selling perfumes. If I remember correctly, it was an affordable perfume for many French women throughout the 20s and 30s. If you went out shopping in Paris in 1930, you can be sure you would cross paths with women wearing this. It's a straightforward floral with good longevity. To my nose the flowers are Rose, Gardenia, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, and Tuberose. It came to me fully sealed and smells like the day it was made. The seal is open now, but the embossed tin seal is still present. 6.) A genuine Guerlain Gardenia in a flacon carr with the original date/batch label. (It kept falling off so I re-attached it using a period-appropriate acid-free preservation glue.) I personally had this imported from a collector near Paris this past summer. Since Guerlain continued to use natural ingredients alongside synthetics, the batch and year can vary a bit with the vintage and antique bottles, kind of like happens with wine batches. I have dabbed on this perfume a handful of times and so there are at least about 60ml remaining, but please see pictures for the details on volume. If I remember correctly, this particular month and year label is during WWII, making this especially rare as the war hit production in the French Perfume Industry quite hard and some brands never recovered. The scent itself is very well-preserved. The opening is heavily citrus-neroli smelling, but the heart is a light, not heavily indolic gardenia. It disappears very quickly on my skin, though, and only have experienced one other batch of the antique Gardenia to compare it to. To me it smells a bit similar to Sunflowers and neroli oil, but that's just a personal interpretation of the notes. It seems to be an EDT or EDC formulation. I don't recall if Guerlain put the eau de parfum or parfum extrait in this bottle type or size this year. (Dating Guerlain bottles is its own rabbit trail!) The label is in very good condition with little/no verdigris or oxidation, but some flea bites. The luster coat is still present. The bottle itself has some rough edges on the stopper and some scattered wear, but still very nice considering the age. There is a black fleck in the stopper, which is just a manufacturing byproduct. It's a true piece of perfume history for a collector. Please feel free to ask any question. All perfumes will be carefully packaged to avoid leaking and the Guerlain will be decanted prior to shipping. All bottles, labels, and boxes have wear consistent with age and storage. Currently they are all stored in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and oxidizing elements. My home is mold, smoke, fabric softener, and heavy perfume-free.
