Description: This is a lot of 2 U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds memorabilia pieces. One is a signed 1967/68 Thunderbirds matted photo. The photo is in a mat, and the mat is signed, but not framed. The mat has a bit of staining on the left end, but this would be covered up if framed. Back of mat has sun bleaching -- again this wouldn't matter if framed, and it's the back. Measures: 20" x 15." The other piece of memorabilia is a Thunderbirds informational booklet/magazine from 1970-1973. It is in very good condition. It has lots of very cool historical information and photos! Shows the 1970 squadron team. Dating the signed photo to 1967/68:Major Neil Eddins (who signed as the leader), was assigned to be lead pilot of the Thunderbirds in January 1967. Then, "From February to July 1969, General Eddins attended the Armed Forces Staff College. After graduation he was assigned to Headquarters Tactical Air Command, Langley Air Force Base as chief, Fighter Training Division." ("Major General Neil L. Eddins." U.S. Air Force. https://www.af.mil/About-Us/Biographies/Display/Article/107119/major-general-neil-l-eddins/). This dates this photo to either 1967 or 1968, before Eddins attended college. Dating the magazine to 1970:The booklet/magazine has an introduction by Major Thomas S Swalm, Commander/Leader of the Thunderbirds, which dates the magazine to 1970-1973, as these are the years Swalm Served as Commander/Leader of the Thunderbirds. "In May 1970 General Swalm was selected to be commander/leader of the "Thunderbirds," the U.S. Air Force's aerial demonstration squadron. During his 33 months with the team, he flex approximately 290 official air shows and performed in 50 states and 19 foreign countries. ("Major General Thomas S. Swalm." U.S. Air Force. https://www.af.mil/About-Us/Biographies/Display/Article/105462/major-general-thomas-s-swalm/). Further in the booklet itself, it shows photos and bios of the1970 squadron.
