Description: This is a special copy of Lost Worlds by Clark Ashton Smith with an after-market dust jacket with artwork by Bruce Pennington! Plus Abominations of Yondo by CAS, first UK edition. Lost Worlds by Clark Ashton Smith (author of Out of Space and Time, Genius Loci, etc.) Hardcover First UK Edition - First Printing London: Neville Spearman UK, 1971. £1.75 cover price, brown boards inside photographic dust jacket. Contains stories contained in CAS' "worlds" such as Averoigne, Hyperborea, and Zothique. (Originally issued by Arkham House in 1944. Fine copies tend to fetch $500+). PLUS a unique after-market dust jacket created with artwork on the front and back by Bruce Pennington used for the Panther UK editions of the same title which was issued in two volumes. Artwork from the first volume is on the front, and artwork from the second volume is on the back. The new jacket is a tiny bit larger than the original jacket (the latter still present and underneath). That said every effort has been made for the jacket to fit like the original including flaps with text and the famous photo of Smith to make an overall much more pleasing presentation than the original UK jacket which shows a photographic image of a tarantula which has nothing to do with any of the stories by CAS so far as I know. Fine- in Very Good only original jacket and Fine as New After-Market Dust Jacket, outwardly a beautiful copy now with the special jacket. Only slight age-toning to the text-block but much better than you'll find on most UK editions and a slight hint of tenderness to the corners, but NO bumps. The original jacket is very good only with lots of rubs and nicks. Priced to sell as a unique collectible for CAS fans and collectors! PLUS: The Abominations of Yondo by CAS Hardcover London: Neville-Spearman, 1972. (originally published by Arkham House, 1960). Fine- in Very Good+ jacket. A touch of foxing to the top edge of the text-block. No major tears or chips but has some nicks to the corners. Still a pretty nice copy.
