Description: This stunning multi-strand, Afghan chandahaar necklace was handcrafted during the mid-1900's for the nomadic Kuchi tribe along the old Silk Road trade routes of Central Asia. Chandahaar necklaces are distinctive jewelry in Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Like this one, chandahaar have multiple chains with charms that cascade well below the neckline. This necklace also has elegant, sturdy pendants towards the back, with vibrant pink beads that are characteristic of the Afghan Swat Valley. More recent ties with tassel ends complete the back, for adjusting the necklace's length. This is a beautiful, vintage necklace that is perfect for belly dance, theater costumes, stage productions, festivals, and dramatic effect. It has a warm age-patina and mild wear-patterns.
