Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I AM NOT SELLING A KIT or MODEL, only a new, ENLARGED to 70” copy of my original Paul Plecan’s PLAN to build a Lockheed Vega, WILEY POST’S “WINNIE MAE” with a 70” wingspan. In 1931, flying a specially modified Lockheed 5C Vega, Wiley Post and navigator Harold Gatty flew around the world in eight days, and in 1933 Post became the first to fly around the world solo, taking only seven days. In 1935, while wearing the world's first pressure suit, which he helped design, Post flew the Vega into the stratosphere, reaching 340 mph while cruising in the jet stream. The WINNIE MAE was named for the daughter of F. C. Hall, the original owner and a close friend of Post. Designed by John K. "Jack" Northrop, the Lockheed VEGA first flew in 1927. It was the first aircraft with the NACA cowl, which streamlined the airflow around and through the engine. This decreased drag and increased power plant cooling. In order to create this high quality enlargement, Paul Plecan’s PLAN was carefully divided to print on two large sheets with a combined width of 44”. Of course, I can offer the plan at its original 41” span. Just ask. As a BONUS I include a copy of a wonderful 4 plate 3-view document to enhance your admiration of this airplane. YOU ARE PURCHASING A NICE, CLEAN, WHITE, ENLARGED FULL-SIZE COPY OF THE PLAN + BONUS DOCUMENTATION FOLDED IN A MANILA ENVELOPE. “The plans are beautiful! Super sharp printing on very high quality paper! Thank You! Actually better than they look on EBAY. The extra documentation is a bonus.” ~ Alan W. Clarkston, MI
