(Note: Engine runs on 027 style track just fine but given the stiff drawbar connection between engine & tender O-31 or larger curves are needed for smooth operation)***Lionel made a limited run of 1928 total of these individually numbered Lionel 1823050 sets as part of the 90th Anniversary celebration of the creation of Mickey Mouse. This engine is number 1788 of 1928***This beautiful, classic looking, die-cast steam engine with tender features removable Mouse Ears, a 2-4-2 wheel configuration, "maintenance free" can motor, engineer & fireman figures, LionChief remote control, bright LED headlamp and sounds to include steam whistle, bell, special "Mickey" announcements and engine chuffing sounds. The sounds do not require any transformer controls to activate as these are all activated using the LionChief remote. Remote is also used for engine speed and direction. LionChief engines can run on any 3 rail track and can use either AC or DC power. To run on a conventional layout, just put the engine on the track and set the transformer throttle to high (15-18 volts) and then control everything from the LionChief remote. That said, this engine does require a remote to run, there is no "conventional option". In addition to the included engine specific remote, this engine can also run off the (optional) Lionel Orange "universal" remote or your phone/tablet using the built-in Bluetooth and the free download LionChief app. With the current version of the app this engine is also now Lionel Voice Command (LVC) capable. I briefly tested this fun & beautiful engine on my layout and the motor, headlamp, remote functions, smoke unit and sounds all worked great! This engine comes with the tender, engine specific remote, Mouse ears and the original set instruction book.
