The large cake plate and four smaller porcelain plates feature hand painted roses in pink and white roses with foliage on a soft yellow/white ground. All five pieces are gilded with gold around their rims. The large cake plate has two scrolling gold patterns on two sides of the front. The porcelain cake plate is marked ‘LIMOGES / FRANCE’ in green under glaze indicating 1891 or after. The four smaller plates are not marked, but they definitely match the large cake plate in their porcelain shape. We did not find an artist signature; however, the hand painting appears very professional. It is seldom that we encounter matching sets in hand painted china and we were pleased to add this to our collection. We are making changes in our home, and would like to see them to a new home! All pieces appear to be in excellent vintage condition with little wear. Only some slight light scuffs on the gold of the cake plate are noted, but not distracting. Measurements: The large cake plate measures approximately 12.25” across in diameter. It stands approximately 1.5” off the table at the rim. Each of the four smaller plates measure approximately 7.5” across in diameter and stand approximately 1” off the table at the rim. This five piece set weighs approximately 4 lbs, 5 ounces. All measurements are approximate, but close. Condition: We carefully examined each piece in this set. NO Chips, Cracks, Hairlines, Scratches, Stains, Repairs or Restorations were noted. The gilded gold on surface and around the rims of the plates appears to be all intact with only some very light scuffs noted to the large cake plate’s solid gold scroll area.
