Description: Levant Cashmere Kashmere – Middle East - Home Travel Movie - 16mm - Antique Vintage – 1928 – 450’ One of a group of 5-6 reels of vintage / antique 16mm movies… all from a family who resided in far Northern Michigan… and Chicago… appears they were of some considerable means… given the extensive travel the films document… Scenes include: landscapes, street scenes…. I am not familiar with landmarks in the area and there were not title cards so I cannot identify specific locations… The Photos: I have viewed the film using a hand-crank editor and took the photos on a light box. Length 450” Timing 17 minutes Condition Overall Good+ vintage condition…. Note that there appears to have been dirt in the gate which appears in the upper edge of the film image. Recall the film nearly 100-years-old… so a break or splice is to be expected… Please see the photos… Levant From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Countries and regions Narrow definition: Hatay Province (Turkey) Cyprus Israel Jordan Lebanon Palestine Syria The Levant (/ləˈvænt/ lə-VANT) is an approximate historical geographical term referring to a large area in the Eastern Mediterranean region of West Asia and core territory of the political term Middle East. In its narrowest sense, which is in use today in archaeology and other cultural contexts, it is equivalent to Cyprus and a stretch of land bordering the Mediterranean Sea in western Asia:] i.e. the historical region of Syria ("Greater Syria"), which includes present-day Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Palestinian territories and most of Turkey southwest of the middle Euphrates. Its overwhelming characteristic is that it represents the land bridge between Africa and Eurasia. In its widest historical sense, the Levant included all of the Eastern Mediterranean with its islands; that is, it included all of the countries along the Eastern Mediterranean shores, extending from Greece in Southern Europe to Cyrenaica, Eastern Libya in Northern Africa. Kashmir From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Kashmir (/ˈkæʃmɪər/ KASH-meer or /kæʃˈmɪər/ kash-MEER) is the northernmost geographical region of the Indian subcontinent. Until the mid-19th century, the term "Kashmir" denoted only the Kashmir Valley between the Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal Range. The term has since come to encompass a larger area that includes the India-administered territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Pakistan-administered territories of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Chinese-administered territories of Aksai Chin and the Trans-Karakoram Tract.
