THIS PACKAGE IS LARGE AND WILL BE DOUBLE BOXED TO PROTECT THIS ART, THE SHIPPING COSTS YOU SEE ARE THE SAME SHIPPING WE ARE CHARGED TO SHIP THIS LARGE PACKAGE TO YOU **Measurements: 22 ¾” Long (Frame) 19 5/8” Tall (Frame) 3 ¾” Deep (Frame) You are bidding on the exact and original, framed Batik Painting (Original, not a print) by the artist Lenore Fiore Mills with a letter of Provenance and live signature directly from Ms. Mills herself as well as a complete letter of Provenance from the completion of the Batik painting to the current owners. This is beautifully framed in a deep shadow box frame. We are not experts or collectors so please see all photos and consider them a part of the description. We have verified all of the information below directly from the artist, Mrs. Mills herself and we thank her for all of her help, letter of Provenance she wrote for us and her talent in her stunning paintings! This stunning Batik painting depicts the Stegmaier Brewery that stands at 160-184 East Market Street in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It is no longer a brewery, but an office building. This piece was completed by Ms. Mills in July of 1982 and donated to WVIA-PBS Channel 44 for a fundraising auction! This piece is signed by the artist, Lenore Fiore Mills in the background right next to the arrow shaped chimney on the roof of the building in the painting. We have it circled for you in one of the close-up pictures. The painting was never displayed in direct light and is in excellent and all original condition with great colors! I tried to capture the beauty of the painting for you in our photos but you can see some glares and dust and such from the glass of the frame itself. The painting does not have any damage, no water stains, no discolorations, no fading, and no strange marks or tears or any other damage. This is just a truly great piece, beautifully done by this wonderful artist. Ms. Mill's Batiks prominently consist of landscapes, sometimes including people and events that she, herself has experienced! The colors in the Batik process are limited and come to the viewers perception through the representation of familiar elements such as trees, mountains, rivers, and buildings only limited by the monochromatic nature of the mediums used in, and process of Batik. Ms. Mills is recipient of many awards for her batiks. Most recently, but not limited to: Honorable Mention - National Assoc. Women Artists 'Shelter' Exhibit, NYC, 2018 2nd - Adams County Arts Council Annual, Gettysburg College, 2017 Honorable Mention - Monmouth Museum Annual, New Jersey, 2016 Best in Show - Pocono Arts Council Annual Members Exhibit First Place - Fine Arts Fiesta, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Second Place - River Renaissance Center for the Arts "Seascapes" Competition, Millville, New Jersey We want to Thank Ms. Mills for helping us identify and verify this stunning piece of her art for us and for providing the letter of Provenance from her with her live signature on it to prove that she is verifying its authenticity. The winning bidder will get this signed provenance as well as a complete provenance from the current owners as well to document the chain of custody of this beautiful piece from completion by the artist right up to the current time! You can bid with confidence that this is a 100% authentic piece and would be a wonderful addition to your collection. These pieces don’t come up to often and as far as I am aware, this one never had any prints made of it either (this is not verified but we are pretty sure that none were made). Not only is the artist, Lenore Fiore Mills a wonderful artist, but a beautiful person as well!! Do not miss out on this opportunity to add this beautiful piece to your décor or collection!! A little history of the Batik Paintings in general: Batik samples have been found in Egyptian mural paintings dating back to at least 2500 B.C. making Batik one of the oldest art forms on record!! Batik is created when a cotton material is used as the canvas to which a pencil drawing is done on. Then, alternating layers of wax and dyes are added until the piece is complete. First, fine brushes are used to apply and paint on the wax. Then the entire piece is submerged in dye. The wax is then “removed” by ironing the art between pieces of paper (at least in more modern times). This is not an easy form of art to master as it takes years of learning how to combine various dyes and work with the wax properly to provide the stunning compositions like the one listed in this auction.** Shipping is calculated right from the USPS and not set by us.
