Description: A larger 5 3/4 inch tall pristine clean deep COBALT BLUE colored antique POISON BOTTLE put out by the OWL DRUG CO. If you need this size Owl Poison bottle for your collection, this one is as good as they get, in startling-good pristine condition. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE blown glass (ABM) bottle with a cork top, dating well over 100 YEARS old, over a CENTURY old. Bottle embossed: "POISON / The Owl Drug Co.", with embossed picture of an owl perched on a druggists' mortar, stirring a pestle. The mortar is embossed with, "TODCO". TODCo = The Owl Drug Co. Condition: This bottle is in PRISTINE SPARKLING CLEAN condition. It has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. See pictures for idea of overall condition. These old ABM cobalt blue triangular shaped Owl Drug bottles come in 8 different sizes, from the tiny 2 1/8" tall (1/4 oz.) size to the 6 1/2" tall HALF PINT size. This one is the 2nd largest size, a 5 3/4 inch tall size that held about 6 ounces of liquid POISON. The larger ones are hard to find as these bottles were susceptible to breakage in the larger sizes. For example, once discarded, they lie on the flat side which left the thin edge upright and very vulnerable to being crushed from the top. The larger the bottle, the bigger the exposed area, and then they are history. This bottle is listed as # KT-1 in the Poison Bottle Workshop book, the book on antique poison bottles. Antique poison bottles are quite collectible as they were most always made in odd shapes or forms, unusual colors, and had fancy or extraordinary embossing patterns on them. Though originally these were all things to let a user know, by sight and feel, that the bottle's contents were something not to be consumed, today these are all the things that makes poison bottles such a collectible category of antique bottle collecting.
