Description: Here is a fantastic lot of gorgeous menswear catalog panels/pages from a turn-of-the-last-century department store catalog/book. The evidence suggests that these pages were once bound in a large volume, perhaps for display at an upscale department store. The backs of these pieces have old glue marks that, my guess, once had swatches of material/cloth glued to them for the purposes of tactile representation of the fashions depicted in the catalog. Each picture is depicted with background indicative of their date/time period. The clothing represented is typical of fashion in pre-1920 western culture, such as that of the United States. Each piece is on heavy card-stock and each piece is gorgeous quality and a romanticized facsimile of 1910’s-1920’s America. Items such as double breasted wool coats are beautifully depicted and each piece is characterized by the romanticism of the times. These are great study pieces for fashion students, yes, but because of their very old age, they are also now a glimpse into the past, not only on the street scenes depicted, but of the advertising styles of the 1920’s. Truly fascinating on several fronts. When I look at these, I am draw into them far beyond the fashion, but to the nostalgia of those days: what must’ve it been like to live in those days? What to do with these? As a collection, they must be displayed of course. Whether in an old tailor shop (when was the last time you saw a bona fide tailor shop that wasn’t a cheap alterations shop?), or an old general store (good luck with that), or for a modern day fashion shop (to draw upon inspiration). A museum? O grand hallway? A She-Shed or Man Cave? A sewing room! Boom! Maybe at some corporate office for big clothing brands? Who makes clothing like this in the USA now? Felt hats, wool suits with floating chest pieces, double breasted—back pleated, draping fashion? Pinstripes and walking canes? Wow. These do have some water damage and one has a streak across it, BUT with the help of a professional framing shop, these can be displayed magnificently! These are truly worth saving and an incredible collection! There are 20 panels in this lot, all sold for one money. Will be packaged carefully and shipped expeditiously. What you see on eBay and other places today is these sold by the page. Not this sale. All for one money. Think my price is too high or too low? Make any offer you think is fair! Thank you. God bless the USA. Vote!
