Description: This is a urethane plastic replica cast of a large male Alaskan grey wolf skull. The wolf is the largest living wild canid, and the heaviest specimens can weigh up to 175lbs. This cast makes an excellent comparison of the differences between wolves and domestic dogs and is shown next to the cast of a Spanish mastiff, representing one of the largest dog breeds. The mastiff is on the right in both photos. Although the mastiff skull looks larger, it is actually a little bit smaller as measured by length and width. Wild canid skulls are normally flat along the top profile, but most dogs have a pronounced forehead (known as a stop). Wolves also have a proportionally larger skull than most dog breeds and also have larger, more robust teeth. The wolf skull cast is 11 5/8" long by 6" wide (total score of 17 5/8"). Every detail has been captured, right down to the texture of the bone and the open nerve and blood vessel holes in the skull. This replica has been cast in two different colors of urethane for added realism - untinted (white) for the teeth and off white for the bone. . I'm happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases. Please note - this cast, like all the skull casts I sell, is made to order so please allow a few days for the cast to be made up.
