Description: Hello ! Up for sale is a terrific compact tube amplifier by Laney .... the Cub 8 ! It's a 5 watt tube amp, but don't let the miniscule wattage and size fool you! This thing is a little beast! A growly monster that can also get dirty and greasy as you would expect from a low wattage tube amplifier! Turn up the master volume to get the tubes to start cooking, and single coils (like our brand new IYV Telecaster also for sale in our ebay store) stay fairly clean. Give the Cub a little more help with a humbucker equipped guitar (like our Peavey Jack Daniels electric) and you can start getting into gritty, edge of break up territory. Or just start turning up the (channel) volume knob and the Cub 8 starts getting into that beautiful but simultaneously filthy tweed overdrive bark that we all love ! Super good for just a 5 watt tube amp. In my opinion, it doesn't really start to slightly deteriorate in sound until the volume control is fully dimed. The tone knob is very responsive. Very nice low-end sound when it is set low. Nice and bright when turned to the right .... just don't turn it up all the way or close to it, because it can get kind of shrill and tinny. I also like using the low input instead of the high... clean sounds very nice. Break up is a little later ... it is more pleasant and less harsh than if you use the high input, in my opinion. This small sucker also takes pedals very well ! Pretty darn versatile for a tiny box without a refrigerator size rack worth of features! So grab one now for your collection .... you won't regret it !
