Description: LACOSTE Crocodile med button-down shirt embroidered throwback 2-tone tennis This is a previously-owned, adult-medium (M / size 14), blue, denim button-down shirt with an embroidered Lacoste crocodile logo on the front. It measures approximately 20 inches (from underarm seam to underarm seam), about 28 inches from back collar to bottom, and is in great condition (Lacoste brand, 100% cotton). René Lacoste, tennis star, joined with a French garment maker to manufacture tennis shirts. In 1933, the famous Crocodile shirt was born. Lacoste signed an agreement with the David Crystal Company in 1952 to import, and in 1966, to make Lacoste shirts in the United States. David Crystal was also the owner of Izod and Haymaker, and so the crocodile is seen on garments with quite a few different labels. These shirts and dresses were very fashionable in the middle 1960s and in the early 1980s, and came to typify the “preppy” look.
