Description: A souvenir coronation spoon in sterling silver, with hallmarks for sterling, Birmingham, and the date 1901; it has been in my family for many years. I am not an expert in this area, but inasmuch as the design matches eBay item 153675552989 and the date is appropriate, I am assuming this is a souvenir spoon for the 1902 coronation of Edward VII and Alexandra as King and Queen of the United Kingdom and British Dominions. The spoon measures 11.2 cm; the bowl itself, 3.8 cm x 2.9 cm; and it weighs 14 grams. The inside of the bowl is beautifully and very finally engraved (see picture 5). The outside (bottom) of the bowl is unengraved and exhibits the three hallmarks for Birmingham (Anchor), Sterling (Lion passant [very worn]), and the date 1901 (b) stamped on the very edge (see picture 6). Judging from the pictures accompanying eBay item 153675552989 and evidence of wear on the hallmarks, I would say that the spoon has been used but is still in very good condition; buyers should make their own assessments from the pictures, which are considered part of the description. The spoon will be carefully packed and shipped with insurance. It is offered on a no-return basis, but I will be glad to answer any questions in advance of bidding.
