Description: A colorful hand painted teapot that still has most of its gilding intact. Both main reserves are of a flower basket with a butterfly hovering above. The front and back near the handle and spout are seaside scenes with a fisherman in a boat. Around the neck, as well as the edge of the lid are matching borders with delicate flowers. The red, green and blue are vibrant; they are accented with much gold gilding. The shallow rounded foot has a nice fine white paste. The teapot is unmarked. The matching lid has a knob finial which is gilded. The lid colors and design match the teapot body. MEASUREMENTS 6” (15.2 cm) long x 3 ½” (8.9 cm) diameter x 4 ¾” (12.1 cm) tall. Weighs 11.1 oz (320 g) CONDITION The handle has been repaired in four places. The spout has a small end chip. The foot has a cut in it from manufacture that was glazed over. The enamels and gilding are in good condition, and are quite bright and fresh. The lid is perfect with no chips or breaks and only slight wear to the gilding in the knob.
