This book was published in October, 1990 by Fantagraphics as the final (to date) issue of the Journey saga. The comic book Journey told the adventures of Joshua "Wolverine" MacAlistaire, a frontiersman, guide, trapper and explorer of the Old Northwest Territory in the early 19th century. The comic book was described as follows in house ads: "Life on the Michigan frontier was filled with Adventure, Fear, Battle, Murder and Death...and then there were the Bad Days." The comic book ran for 27 issues with Aardvark-Vanaheim and Fantagraphics from 1983-1986. The comic book told of Wolverine MacAlistaire and his encounters and adventures with various (and mostly unfriendly) animals, French and British soldiers and spies, Native Americans, settlers, other frontiersmen, and an assortment of bizarre characters seeking fulfillment in the wilderness. The sequel (sadly, never completed as only 2 books of a planned 6 issue mini-series were published) Journey: Wardrums, tells of Wolverine's involvement with the War of 1812 in the Northwest Territory. This issue, titled "The Siege of Fort Detroit", focuses on the siege of Fort Detroit by British forces and their Native American allies led by the Shawnee Chief Tecumseh. Characters featured in this issue include Wolverine MacAlistaire, Josh's memories of Crawfish Martin (and his wife Sparrow Dark and their son), Shawnee Chief Tecumseh, Calico Jack, U.S. General Hull, Captain Burke, British General Brock, Herbert (3rd Earl of George), and many other supporting characters. Wolverine is making his way to Crawfish's cabin, hoping that the rampaging Native American warriors have somehow missed it. Neither the American general nor the British general wants to risk a direct battle as Tecumseh plans a ruse to confound the American forces. An excellent example of Messner-Loeb's artistry from the final issue of the comic book. A well designed and rendered issue featuring many of the Journey characters by long-time comic book writer and artist, Bill Messner-Loebs. This is what you will receive:-Original Bill Messner-Loebs art (pen and ink over blue pencil) drawing used for the front cover of Wardrums #2.-Original Bill Messner-Loebs painting used for the coloring (color guide/overlay) of the front cover of Wardrums #2.-Acetate 4-part proof of the front cover of the issue. This is a production piece (NOT original art) consisting of four sheets of acetate (printed in black, blue (cyan), red (magenta) and yellow; one color for each sheet) all affixed at the top to a white sheet of backing paper. This acetate cover proof features an October, 1987 cover date as originally scheduled. Bill Messner-Loebs did a ton of writing for DC from 1987-1990, and so the issue was delayed for nearly three years.-Original Messner-Loebs art (pen and ink over blue pencils with ink wash and Zip-A-Tone) for pages one (1) through twenty three (23) of this issue. This is the COMPLETE original art for the interior pages of the Wardrums comic book issue #2.-A copy of the comic book Wardrums #2. Condition: -The art is in excellent overall condition.
