REPRINT ~ Excellent/Near-Mint or better"N43" (actually, simply "43") - the "N" (for 19th century) being added in later years - is the designation Jefferson Burdick in his American Card Catalog decades ago gave Allen & Ginter's colorful cards of 1888. Original cards from this set are now more than 125 years old and an individual card of the most common player will cost hundreds of dollars in top condition.This card is reproduced in close-to-the- original 3-1/4" by 2-7/8" size (being 3-3/16" by 3") and colorized image of a prominent player of the era. Featured is the same player portrait as used in Allen & Ginter's N29 set with baseball scenery added. The back carries a checklist of the set, starting with "Cyclists" and followed by "Base Ball Players" and others. In those days, the game was a two-word affair. (An example of N29 is also shown.
