Original blue cloth lettered in gilt, top edge blue, preserved in pictorial dustwrapper; pp. [vii], 8-327; a fine copy preserved in an exceptional example of the original, unclipped, dustwrapper with only slight rubbing to corner tips, otherwise crisp and unworn; from the collection of L.G.E. Bell and with his engraved book plate designed by Pauline Baynes. First Edition. This copy neatly inscribed in ink to front free endpaper by the author: “The luck will altar & the star will rise. John Masefield” [together with:], The Box of Delights or When the Wolves were Running New York: Macmillan Company, 1935. First Edition. Hardcover. 8vo. Original blue cloth lettered in gilt, top edge gray, decorative end papers, preserved in white pictorial dust wrapper; pp. [viii] + 418; with delightful chapter headings and vignettes decorating the text; a near fine copy with just a trace of light speckling to fore-edge of book block; the unclipped dustwrapper in amazingly fresh condition, with the white decorated panels fresh and unblemished, with none of the expected dusting, corner tips and base of spine with minute nicks and with one thumbnail area of expert, and practically indiscernible, restoration at head of spine.
