Description: Thank you for coming my store ♥ Description This portrait shows a healthy young woman with a Taka-shimada coiffure, playing with a glass toy, known as a biidoro. This thin glass object has a bulb covered with a thin diaphragm at one end and a pipe at the other. When the pipe is blown or sucked the diaphragm makes soft popping sound. The women dose not appear to belong any particular social classification. The Ukiyo-e is printed on Echizen kizuki hosho washi (a unique kind of Japanese paper) handmade by Ichibei Iwano, a living national treasure. This makes the vivid colors and the soft, warm textures of woodcut prints come to life.
