Description: Late Edo Period Japanese Katana. Considering this sword is antique, around 150 years old, it looks very good. No obvious significant damage, no cracks, no chips, etc. High resolution photos are posted... look them over... they are part of the description... request more if you are looking at something specific. This is a genuine Japanese made antique. My understanding, from the previous owner, is that it was a "bring back" after WWII. It was gifted to a US soldier who saved a young Japanese girl from a group of Japanese men/soldiers. Her family gave the American soldier the sword as a sign of thanks and respect. It had been an award to a family member for service to the Emperor/nation/etc. in the late Edo period. He described that the family kept it hidden for some reason. Of course, I cannot guarantee the story to be true, but that is what I was told by the previous owner. It's a beautiful sword and you won't be disappointed. She's much more beautiful in person that she is in the photos. The Buyer is responsible for ensuring legality in their home state / county / city.
