It is made from 1060 carbon steel. This is a hand forged Nodachi sword, or "field sword" or simply called "Odachi". The sword was carried by foot soldiers as a counter measure against cavalry attacks. The massive blade would be wielded by two men to cut the legs out from under charging attacks. However, by a skilled and powerful warrior the sword could be used by a single man and had the potential to cut both horse and man apart in a single stroke. During times of peace the sword would be carried by high ranking Samurai as a sign of status. Due to its length the sword would be carried on the Samurai's back. Although, this sword is long, in the correct hands the sword would become unstoppable. The sword has been hand forged with all authentic fittings. This mighty sword is spectacular to behold and would grace any collection. The sword is completely functional. It can be used for drills, practice or test cutting. The Kissaki is medium with a well defined Yokote. The sword is full tang and sharp. This blade features a iron made square Japanese tsuba, sparkle matt black hardwood saya. The handle is made of authentic purple ray skin samegawa and secured by 2 mekugi bamboo pins. The handle ito wrap is synthetic black leather. It comes with a silk sword bag.
