INTAGLIO ENGRAVED CUT GLASS LIDDED CONDIMENT, WILCOX STERLING TOP, c. 1920

Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous American intaglio engraved crystal goblet shaped condiment jar (?) with Sterling Silver lid and spoon. The glass body is decorated with an all-over pattern consisting of intaglio cuttings of flowers and foliage. Shaped like a goblet with a pedestal base and elongated top, the piece has a notched Sterling Silver lid and comes with long twist handle spoon. This stunning glass piece is in excellent condition with no noted damage. Measures 7 1/2" high (to top of finial on lid) and 5 3/8" high (to top of glass). Glass has a 2 3/4" top opening and 2 3/4" base diameter. Total weight of three pieces as shown is 12.3 ounces. The lid is marked with the old trademark stamp of the Frank M. Whiting Company and "Sterling, B48". This stamp was used by Frank M. Whiting of North Attleboro MA from 1896 on. Top measures 2 3/8" high and 2 7/8" in diameter. Weighs 30 grams. The spoon is marked with the early trademark stamp used by Gorham and "Sterling, H142". The spoon was definitely added later as it pre-dates the other pieces. It has the shape of a martini spoon. Spoon measures 7 1/4" long. Weighs 25 grams. This is a very nice quality engraved glass piece probably made by Hawkes, Libbey or Sinclair in the early part of the 20th Century.
