Description: 8.5"x11" paper flyer promoting an International Championship Wrestling card for May 12, 1979, at the Cheatham High School Gym in Ashland City, Tennessee, just northwest of Nashville. The card featured a 26-year-old, pre-fame Randy "Macho Man" Savage and his brother, "Leaping Lanny" Poffo. Their father, Angelo Poffo ,had formed the ICW promotion to push his sons' careers. As the Lexington, Kentucky-based ICW was not a member of the National Wrestling Alliance, it was considered an "outlaw" promotion. Also on the card: Pistol Pez Whatley and Marc "The Disco Kid" Sciarra, later better known as "Rip Rogers." Whatley and The Disco Kid sometimes wrestling as the tag team "Convertible Blondes." George Weingeroff promoted the event. The flyer has substantial yellowing and staining. It has creases where it has been previously folded. It does not have any holes, but it does have small tears, creases, and wear around the edges. Photos show these issues in more detail. The flyer would be considered "good" condition, but its scarcity makes it a must-have for any collector of Randy "Macho Man" Savage memorabilia or any hardcore fan of vintage Kentucky-Tennessee wrestling history.
