( see photo) The RG7420 is a seven-string RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2000. It was also referred to as the RG7-420 in some instances. The RG7420 was introduced as an alternative for the more expensive RG7620. Both were discontinued in 2003. Features of the RG7420 include a basswood body, dual Ibanez Vintage humbucking pickups, a locking nut and a double locking tremolo bridge. The RG7420 is occasionally mistaken for the RG7620. Ibanez sometimes used necks interchangeably between the two models, so some RG7420 necks will be stamped "RG7620". The most reliable way to distinguish between the two models is to look at the tremolo — the 7420 uses the Lo-TRS 7 tremolo while the 7620 employs a Lo Pro Edge 7.
