Description: WebVinyl Presents! Hubert Laws “Morning Star” Original 1972 U.S. First Pressing Vinyl 33-1/3 RPM 12” Jazz / Funk / Fusion Record Album in Gatefold Cover! No Reserve! DESCRIPTION Hubert Laws - “Morning Star” CTI Records CTI 6022 (Stereo) from 1972. Hard to Find Original 1972 U.S. First Stereo Pressing of this great Fusion / Funk / Jazz album from Hubert Laws backed by Bob James, Ron Carter, Billy Cobham, Ralph MacDonald, Dave Friedman, John Tropea, Phil Bodner, Romeo Penque, Marvin Stamm and more. Arranged and Conducted by Don Sebestky, Produced by Creed Taylor and Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder at his studio. On the Yellow / Gold and Orange / Brown CTI labels and in the Original Gatefold Cover with No Barcode, Promo markings or Cutouts - this is the version of the cover that includes the names of the featured players along with the song titles. Includes the Original Printed CTI Inner Sleeve. This is an Original Santa Maria First Pressing as indicated by the Matrix / Vinyl Runout markings which read: Matrix / Runout (Both sides, Stamped): VAN GELDER Matrix / Runout (Side A, Etched): S RVG•87679•A-4 • Matrix / Runout (Side B, Etched): RVG•87679•B-1 CONDITION The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some fairly slight shelf wear, edge creasing and corner softening/wear. Super solid with no splits, stains, tears, writing, cutouts, etc. and would rate at least VG. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot some light scuffs, marks and hairlines - no actual scratches i.e. something that can be felt with a fingernail. Still VG+ visually overall and plays more like EX to Near Mint with maybe just a couple spots of faint groove noise - might be further improved with a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The labels show a couple faint spindle trails but are otherwise NM. SONG LIST A1 Morning Star 7:54A2 Let Her Go 4:50A3 Where Is The Love 4:34B1 No More 5:00B2 Amazing Grace 7:20B3 What Do You Think Of This World Now? 6:00 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
