Description: This is an original House of Staunton Tournament Collector Series Ebony and Boxwood 4” King chess set with an original House of Staunton Signature Luxury Indonesian Rosewood and Birdseye Maple chess board with 2.375” squares. The chess set is in mint condition and comes with a certificate of authenticity that is signed by Frank Camaratta (https://chessantiques.com/frank-camaratta/), original owner of House of Staunton and the designer of the Collector set. The bottom of the Brazilian Rosewood locking chess box (key included) has the House of Staunton logo along with the serial number of the chess set. This label is also signed by Frank Camaratta. The kings feature English leather embossed with the House of Staunton logo. The other pieces feature beautiful green baize. The pieces are triple weighted. All pieces are in mint condition, with no chips, cracks, scratches, or dings. There are two queens for black and for white. The rooks and knights come with the classic red crown on the top of the King’s side rook and knight to reflect the classic chess notation in use before the alphanumeric system in use today. The Board is in excellent condition with no dings, dents, cracks, or scratches to the wood. The board’s sides are Indonesian rosewood and Birdseye maple, and has an ebony delimiter. The board bears the seal of House of Staunton underneath, and is numbered, dated, and signed by the maker, William Lisisca, and comes with a matching certificate of authenticity also signed by the maker. The board has not been waxed for some time and would probably benefit from stripping the old wax and putting on a new coat.
