If you are looking for this kind of quality then these discs are not for you. All pictures are actual screen captures from the DVDs. I re-master all of my films myself to the best possible quality achievable. Please note this when purchasing, but also know that all of the films are very watchable. To keep my prices as low as possible all my DVDs are delivered in plain paper DVD sleeves and the DVDs title will be labeled on the back of the DVD envelope. (See picture) All of my DVD's come with a menu for easy film selection. Full runtime of this DVD is 65 Minutes. Item specifics are: FILM 1: INGENUITY IN ACTION (1958) COLOR Runtime 27 minutes This informative film made for hot rod fans explains the process involved in preparing and entering a car show, but at times comes across as an ethnographic account of the "nomadic tribe of hot rodders". This is an awesome film!! It's got it all. Cool cats, beautiful cars, wonderful scenery and lots of drag strip action. It even has a guy with a beatnik beard! The roar of those American V8's is a beautiful sound to behold, something we don't seem to hear enough of anymore. Today's performance cars sound like a dying moose with those stupid mufflers they all seem to have. What I really like about this is the message of team work, discipline, adherence of rules and reward for a job well done. SHOT LIST: Aerial shot of Detroit out of jet window, with airplane wing Many shots of hot rod auto shows, crowds, and races Full parking lot aerial shots (shaky) Shots of race car assembly, including welding on the frame and engine work Shots of driving through the Southwest, with Mesas in the background. A desert sunset. Men pushing a race car on the ramp of a semi-truck. A group of men shaking hands and rubbing the top of each others' heads. Shot on the rear of a race car with smoke shooting out as it takes off. Scenes of cars racing. Woman shooting with 8mm movie camera. An outdoor pool with men jumping off the diving board. Trucks with trailers going through the Turner Turnpike toll booth. A woman standing on the back flap of a vehicle in sunglasses, thongs and sombrero hat shoots 8mm movies Men at a Coca-Cola stand Shots from front of racing car of on-coming track Close-up of sports announcer with microphone Men accepting and holding trophies by cars A woman in full length gown being aggressively kissed in a joking fashion -- she reacts with a crazy expression Personalities: Chuck Jones, racer from sidewinder crew in Long Beach, California Wally Parks, president of NHRA Ed Cole, general manager of Chevrolet Robert Petersen, publisher of Hot Rod Magazine Mr. Tex Colbert, president of Chrysler Corporation FILM 2: COOL HOT ROD (1953) B&W Runtime 26 minutes And cool hot rods they are! A very good effort with some excellent street footage. Has the cheesy classic bubbly flute music for the score. In this Sid Davis production, a young boy new to the town, is puzzled by why the kids don't accept him and his hot rodding ways. When he tries to get all the kids impressed by talking about it, they all turn away in disgust. Rather then parking one night in a abandoned business and listening to Kenny Loggins and dancing in protest, he actually goes to the kids an learns why the kids act in such a square fashion. One of the town kids you see, was killed while trying to beat a train. So Tom Hanks (yes, Tom Hanks, that's the character's name) arranges a hot rod track to be made. All the kids are so excited about this track that they arrange knight clubs that will all agree to drive slowly an keep their cars in running order and help out in their community. The hot-rodder is so won over by this show of hip-to-be-square ness that he runs off to prove he can be as nerdish as everyone else! A great, if slightly overlong movie. Bonus points: The many newspaper with screaming headlines but with the same stories on the remaining sections. Recommended! FILM 3: ROADRUNNERS (1952) B&W Runtime 12 minutes "Mel" is a hot-rodder who quickly conforms when he discovers the Santa Ana drag strip and the Lake El Mirage timing trials. These provide a "safe and constructive outlet," the narrator tells us, and help mitigate the "juvenile nuisance problem." "Trophies now instead of traffic tickets! He'll never speed on the highway again!" Real life wasn't really this simple.... Good shots of homemade hot rods and seat belts. I claim ownership and rights to this media. All the films on this DVD have been researched and are copyright free or the copyrights have expired due to non renewal.
