Genus name honors Austrian botanist Nicholas Thomas Host (1761-1834) and was first established in 1812. Foliage holds good color throughout the growing season. Funnel-shaped, pale lavender flowers in dense racemes appear in late summer atop leafy green scapes rising above the foliage mound to 30” tall.
