Description: A beautiful Homer Laughlin Rhythm Bess Myerson Big Pay-Off Dinner Plate - 10 inches in diameter. An interesting HLC shape and pattern from the mid-century era - sixty plus years ago. Former Miss America 1945, Bess Myerson hosted the CBS show "The Big Payoff" during the 1950's and lent her name to a marketing firm that sold this Dinnerware. Very collectible to Vintage TV Fans and to those of us who remember the show! The Rhythm shape was produced from the late 40's until the late 50's and had a very sleek and modern appearance. It was widely distributed by all the larger retail chains but only for a relatively short time period. Also of note is Rhythm was one of the first shapes to use the "Duraprint" process. Duraprint was a process that printed the pattern onto the pattern using an inflating rubber bladder. Rhythm, (designed by Mr. Schreckengost) was also the first shape to be put on the automatic jigger equipment at HLC - which was state-of-the-art at the time.
