Includes a handful of ephemera, including:Several newspaper clippings regarding wood-engraving, one of which dates to 1879 from The Sun.Small paperbound "Exhibitions of American Engravings on Wood", 2nd ed, 188118 copies of an engraving entitled "Drifting" by W.J. Hennessy (William John Hennessy), dated 1866.A handwritten letter from Herbert Waters, circa 1940s(?), who was a printmaker and was involved with the WPA Federal Art Project in the late 1930s.An official acknowledgement from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, for the gift of "Three wood engravings made by J.I. (?) Speer" from 1882. Signed by the president, Otis (unintelligible), and the curator, Chas. G. Laing(?). Notes: Oversize, 9.5"x12" inches. As-is/poor condition. Covers have significant wear, front cover is detached and back is strained, lacks spine. A couple sections of the text block are very loose in the binding, but holding. The endpapers are darkened from the newspaper clippings, otherwise the interior is unmarked with minimal discoloration. Includes a section at the back of blank pages where you can mount your own proofs. Lots of engravings that would be wonderful framed!
