Description: QUANTITY: ONE Illinois Lock Company, Patented DUO lock, double-bitted, triple-serratures cam lock, straight cam and two keys. ABOUT THE ITEM: Illinois Lock Company, Patented DUO lock, double-bitted, triple-serratures (in essence, triple-cuts: Two primary serratures, one secondary serrature [the secondary serrature is cut into the side of the key - see the listing's photographs for high-resolution photos of the key's cut]). This lock and key assembly was so sophisticated, that the Illinois Lock Company (a division of The Eastern Company), was granted a United States Patent, Number 5,235,832 on August 17, 1993 to protect their lock, (digital copies of two pages of that United States Patent can be seen in this listing's photographs). WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING: One Illinois Lock Company DUO lock, two matching DUO keys (these keys are extremely thick for cam lock keys due to the third group of serratures), one mounting/retaining nut, one cam retaining screw, one cam toothed washer and one 1" straight cam. This lock is factory new, is functional and has been tested. You'll find it fascinating in how it operates (TRANSLATION: It's lots of fun to play with!). Please note, due to the keyway's design, the key inserts in one position only. In addition, when inserting the key, the tumbler's alignment and rotation work more difficult than most cam / cylinder locks (as it's aligning considerably more wafers -AND- lifting additional wafer springs). SPECIFICATIONS & MEASUREMENTS: Several of this listing's photographs included the lock's dimensions. The lock's cylinder is the industry standard "Double-D" footprint (making mounting right-side up or upside-down possible). The lock, keys, nut, cam arm, retaining screw and toothed washer weigh 3.4 ounces (95 grams). The lock cylinder measures 1.71" from the face of the lock to the end of the cam retainer (without the screw or washer). The cylinder measures 0.74" across the threads, 0.625" across the flat sides of the cylinder. The face of the lock measures 1.0" across. The square cam retainer at the rear of the lock measures 0.38" square. The key removes in two positions (180º opposite each other). It appears that the cam retaining screw's thread count is 1/4-28. CAM ARM ORIENTATION: The one-inch straight cam is "dimpled" restricting the cam's rotation to 90-degrees, thus the key can only be removed in the locked position. If this is a problem when you receive the lock, you can remove the cam arm, turn it over and resecure it with the dimple outward which will allow the cam to rotate a full 360-degrees (at which point the key will remove at two positions (180-degrees opposite one another). When we purchased a lot of Illinois Lock Company DUO locks and keys (manufactured in 1993), the locks were in the original shipping container which bore the following data from the manufacturer: C. P. No. 29-5145-000A; Lock No. HSD6421L-67; Key No. 5A000. The Illinois Lock Company rubber stamped the side of their shipping boxed and then hand-wrote the information on the box. All locks in this listing are keyed alike. The Illinois Lock Company classifies their DUO brand lock(s) as HIGH SECURITY, TRIPLE-BITTED locks. This listing is for one lock with two-keys. ABOUT THE COMPANY AND THE PATENT: The Illinois Lock Company (a division of The Eastern Company), was granted a United States Patent, Number 5,235,832 on August 17, 1993 to protect their lock technology, (digital copies of two pages of that particular U. S. Patent can be seen in this listing's photographs). The Illinois Lock Company was founded in 1930 and conducted business on Taylor Street (on the west side of Chicago). In 1960, the company waved goodbye to Taylor Street and relocated to its present location on West Hintz Road in Wheeling, Illinois. Only five years after relocating, Illinois Lock was acquired by The Eastern Company in 1965 (Eastern was founded in 1858).
