Description: Gil Hibben knife, produced by United Cutlery - This design was created by Hibben in 1991, used for the Jaffa costume knife in Stargate SG1, and a chrome version in the Expendables. This is the black version and while a bit dirty, is in great overall shape. Has been sharpened and used, material is steel, with steel wire wrapped handle. This Black version was produced in late 90's during the production run of Stargate (1998-2007). Sheath is properly stamped and marked and is in good condition, appears 1/3 of an inch of the thumb tab was cut off (cleanly cut across where it should be round). See photos for details. While there are lots of chrome versions of this knife available, this is the only early version currently on ebay in black. Most are post 2008 re-pops and have cheap chrome handguards, and plastic leather wrapped handles. Gil Hibben signed a licensing agreement with United Cutlery in 1987 for United to reproduce Hibben Knives designs. Since then United has produced a huge variety of designs by Hibben Knives from simple throwing knives to fantasy art pieces to folders, hunting skinng and Kenpo karate. The Hibben line is hugely collectible due to the uniqueness of the designs and Hibben Knives history dating back to 1956.
