Description: H.H.Scott Stereomaster Type 222C Stereo Laboratory Amplifier. It is in very clean and nice condition. The faceplate has a few scratches which are not very noticeable. The lettering has wear in a few spots - most significantly "Loudness" and "Power/Pull On" around the lower right knob. Please refer to photos.A NOS quartet of Sylvania Blackplate 7189 were installed and adjusted for balance and bias. The 12AX7 are Brimar half-box-plate CV40004 (which tube dealers would charge over $100 each for - if they weren't Out Of Stock). The 6U8A are a pair of brand new RCA (branded Motorola). The rectifier is an RCA "Made In Gr. Britain" GZ34 (does not appear to be made by Mullard). The combination of these tubes in this amp sounds spectacular. When contemplating the price one should take into account that purchased separately the tube complement alone would come close to the sale price. I have cleaned the tube pins & sockets and the connectors. The pots have also been cleaned with electronics cleaner. The main power supply capacitor can was replaced with four bundled electrolytic caps some time ago. The other cap cans are original. The unit runs quietly. The power cord has a slight nick in the insulation which is wrapped with electrical tape. I also have a Scott 314 Tuner available in another listing. I am listening to the pair as I write this and they sound superb together. The tuner would be available at a significantly discounted price with the 222C. Also listed in other venues - including locally.
