Description: Pyritized Brachiopod (Pyrite Brachiopod) Paraspirifer bowenockeri Silica Formation Devonian Period Sylvania, Ohio This is a well known fossil from a classic American locality. I believe that area is closed to collecting now. This shell was treated with acid to expose its pyrite coating. There is quite a bit of pyrite on this specimen.
