Description: I'm pleased to offer vials of "Heavy Mineral Concentrate" from the Fancy Creek kimberlite, Riley County, Kansas. Each vial measures approximately 2.07 inches or 5.17cm and contains concentrate collected from this kimberlite. These are originally from the Dr. William Mansker collection--he was intimately involved with diamond exploration in the area in the early 1980s for Cominco American Inc. This material was passed to my late friend Shawn Carlson (1968-2023) of Iron Mountain, Michigan. Shawn was very active in diamond exploration in Michigan and was a very active and knowledgeable mineral collector. Shawn provided me with a suite of worldwide kimberlite specimens and this material was part of that suite and a copy of his handwritten index card will be included with each vial. NOTE! This listing is for ONE vial of the concentrate. The Fancy Creek kimberlite was discovered via aeromagnetic surveys in the early 1980s by geolgists working for Cominco American Inc. Dr. William Mansker was instrumental in the discovery and classification of the Fancy Creek kimberlite. This particular kimberlite (more than a dozen are known from Kansas) is typified by olivine, chromian pyrope, chromian diopside, magnesian ilmenite and phlogopite. Two very small diamonds were found in material processed from this kimberlite but it is now believed that this was contaminated by kimberlite mined in the Colorado-Wyoming kimberlite belt that was evidently processed at the same location! Crazy. These are priced at only $12 each with FREE domestic shipping--hard to beat! Please check my feedback and my other eBay items. All specimens are carefully wrapped, come with complete and accurate labels and are quickly shipped. As always, your complete satisfaction is unconditionally guaranteed and I even offer FREE return shipping on any item that fails to satisfy for any reason---you can't go wrong. I'm reminded of the firm pledge printed on the old Foote Mineral Company mineral catalogs from more than a century ago, "Quality of specimens is assured as we permit return of specimens at our expense." Thanks for looking! I buy collections! Please contact me if you have a collection for sale or know of one that is available. I will pay a finder's fee to anyone that can point me to an eventual purchase!
