Description: This 1980 Netherlands 3LP box set from Philips' Festivo Series (6770 035) features a performance of Haydn's oratorio The Seasons. It is performed by Heather Harper (soprano), Ryland Davies (tenor), and John Shirley-Quirk (bass), as well as the BBC Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, conducted by Colin Davis. This album is a reissue of a previous Philips release of this performance (1969, SAL 3698-3700). Inside is a booklet containing album notes and the libretto. The album notes are provided in both English and German. The libretto has the English lyrics of each season as well as some notes in German. Also included is a double-sided photocopy of reviews of the performance from the April 1969 and November 1980 editions of The Gramophone. The box has a sticker on the front saying that it was imported from Europe (which seems to be standard for this release). It also shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back (Photo 2). This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of LPs and CDs that we will be listing here. All have been carefully stored for many years, played only on premium equipment, and show little to no wear.
