Description: This beautiful reproduction map was purchased from the Lahaina Printsellers in Lahaina, Maui in the 1980s. It is a faithful professional reproduction of a 1784 map drawn by Capt. James Cook of his travels in the Sandwich Islands - now known as the Hawaiian Islands. It shows his voyages around the islands and has an inset showing Kealakekua Bay, on the Big Island, where Cook was killed in 1779. Matte is more of a muted rust color than the pinkish color in the photos. This map was purchased from the Lahaina Printsellers, Inc. in Lahaina, Maui in the 1980s. They specialized in antique maps and prints. Unfortunately this business burnt to the ground during the Maui/Lahaina fire in 2023. Most all of their antique inventory was lost. Included is a certificate of authentication. This map was professionally framed and matted. It measures: framed: 28" wide by 21" tallmap alone: 19" by 12"
