It’s not silver, but it does have similar properties! The blade has a salve that is commonly wiped on the blade in Argentina after the knife is finished to preserve it . The buyer can easily wash this off in the kitchen. I do not believe the antler is from a real animal, but it is crafted so realistic that it is difficult to tell! Do not wash and dishwasher. Best to be hand washed after each usage. These handcrafted Argentinian knives will last a couple of lifetimes if taken care of!
