No need for trailered equipment or bulky power units.- Directs most, if not all counter torque into surrounding objects- Approximately 4x more energy efficient than impacting type drivers (able to install more anchors per battery charge)- Virtually unlimited anchor adapter tool life vs. impacting type drivers- Reduced noise and vibration vs. impact drivers- Inherent ability to provide additional vertical force to anchors to assist in installation- Faster drive time than impact drivers under anchor maximum torque conditions- Anchor size does not affect maximum effective torque tool produces- Relatively high tolerance for bent anchor shafts- More cost effective vs. other equipment of similar capability LD200 designed for anchors having a shaft diameter up to 1/2". HD350 designed for anchors having a shaft diameter up to 5/8"HD500s designed for anchors having a shaft diameter up to 3/4"XD1200 designed for anchors having a shaft diameter up to 1"XD2000s designed for anchors having a shaft diameter up to 1-1/4" "LI" versions of the above are designed for "low input" torque to allow drivers having lower torque capability to achieve a similar output torque to the non-LI versions."M" versions of the above ("modular") are user-configurable for the application. The XD2000M is essentially a HD500 with the ability to achieve 2000 ft*lbs of torque by addition of another component and constructed of stronger and longer arms to manage the increased reaction forces. Increase your ability to drive screw-type anchors into the ground with these tools. Targeted for 1/2" drill drivers to help them achieve the torque listed in the specifications table. Requires input listed in specifications table from the drill to achieve rated tool output. Not designed to work with impact drivers or drills set in "hammer" mode. The patent-pending design directs counter-torque (aka "kickback") forces into the ground. With optional drill adapter, the tool will direct all counter-torque into the ground. The LD50 anchor adapter (FCAT-ADA-LD200) fits most eye-type anchors having shafts sizes up to 1/2" and is included with the case option. Contact us with any other combinations of anchor adapters or components and we will do our best to accommodate you. An XD75U is included with the HD500s with case options for installing utility type anchors. XD units come with XD100U anchor adapter unless requested or otherwise noted. See our listing of anchor adapters here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/224710801782. With the optional post hole adapter, the tool can be used to dig post holes and has the same capability as some "two-man" post hole diggers with one-person operation. Auger bits not included. Unexpected rocks, tree roots, etc. will heavily influence the ability and torque requirements to install a screw anchor. Choose the model of FCAT based on the shaft diameter of the anchor(s) being installed to ensure you can reach the maximum torque capacity of the anchor to have the greatest chance to install it. Q: Can anchors be installed at an angle?A: Yes. It is slightly easier to install anchors vertically but any angle they could be installed at with other means can be done with the FCAT also. Q: When would the recommendation be made to utilize a 2-stroke gas engine vs. a battery or corded driver? A: The main advantage of the 2-stroke gas engine is its longer run-time capability with a full tank of fuel vs. the current typical run-time of battery powered drivers. However, 2-stroke engines only run in the install direction with no provision for reverse. The output speed of the unit we use in our videos is also limited to around 300 rpm output and lacks the potential higher speeds found on most electric powered units which is helpful when torque requirements of the anchor are low. Q: Can I get more than the rated output of the tool by using a drill which puts out more than the rated input?A: No. The tool output is limited by an integrated torque limiter device which restricts the ultimate output of the tool to around the listed output in the specifications. This limiter protects many of the components of the tool and also keeps the tool within its safe operating limits. Older drills or those with weak or depleted batteries unable to achieve the rated input will correspondingly produce less than the rated output from the tool. Q: Can I order a tool with a higher torque output?A: The FCATs have been optimized to balance tool life and performance which, for the components used, is the torque listed in the specifications table. In theory, tools with higher torque ratings can be built. Contact us and we would be happy to discuss our ability to provide higher capacity tools. Q: Do I have to order one of the listed drill adapters to use the tool, or do I need to have one of the listed drills to use this tool? A: No. You can use any drill having a 1/2" square output. Note that without the drill adapter, the operator will need to contend with the counter-torque of the drill. Q: Will this work on mobile home anchors?A: Yes, assuming the anchors require less than the capability of the specific model. See specifications image in listing. Q: How do I get an idea of how much torque a given anchor will require for a job I have?A: Use an inline digital torque meter (Harbor Freight has decent ones at a good price) and install one of the anchors by hand if you can to get a value. Not only will you gain insight into how much torque is required, you'll also gain an appreciation for any equipment which can help install anchors. In some cases (in our experience rare,) you may find installation by hand to be not bad at all in which case you can save yourself a fair amount of money by not hiring the job to be done or purchasing additional equipment to do so. Q: How much do the FCATs weigh?A: See specifications image for details. Q: How does this compare to an impact type driver?A: Much could be written about this very good question. To be as brief as possible the LD200 tool rivals what is considered to be a "high torque" 1/2" drive impact driver at the time of this writing for installing most helix type anchors. However, impact drivers suffer from many shortcomings when employed for installing anchors. Namely, they are much less efficient (high battery/energy consumption), are very demanding on any adapters/anchors (significantly shortened lifespan), and tend to slow much more noticeably as they near their capacity when compared to non-impacting type drivers. Anchor characteristics also greatly affect the performance of a given impact driver to the point that each anchor type and size will have a corresponding "effective torque" the impact driver can practically supply to it making it much more difficult to determine whether an impact driver will be successful in its installation ahead of time short of acquiring actual testing results of a given impact driver with a given anchor. Q: I have an impact driver capable of achieving 1400 ft*lbs of torque according to the manufacturer. How can a tool with 200 ft*lbs of torque rival this?A: There are two primary reasons why. #1 - manufacturers tend to overrate their impact drivers or use methods that are not well understood or easy to duplicate under field use conditions to determine their ratings. See related videos on YouTube from "Torque Test Channel" on this. #2 - the anchor behaves similarly to a "torque stick" when connected to an impact driver. This causes it to act as a torsion spring with the associated deflection (flexure) dissipating much of the torque before it can make it to the helix of the anchor. This significantly reduces the "effective" torque an impact can provide to a given anchor and is heavily related to the dimensional characteristics of the anchor. From our testing, we expect the effective torque to be anywhere from about 1/6 to 1/2 of the rated impact driver torque for most anchors from a practical standpoint. By their nature, impact drivers can achieve higher effective values but energy usage and time duration increase significantly beyond what we feel is this practical range. Q: The Milwaukee 2904 drill is rated at 1400 in*lbs (117 ft*lbs) of torque. Will this tool really improve my ability to install anchors?A: Similar to the answer to the question above, manufacturers tend to overrate the actual torque of their drills or use methods that are not well understood. See the Torque Test Channel video on ratings that are defined in a more understandable way here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mYsktjbLjs&t=672s. For a more "apples-to-apples" comparison the Milwaukee 2904 produces up to 46 ft*lbs using high capacity batteries. This means the LD200 anchor driver is roughly equivalent to the torque of four of these. Additionally, the LD200 can direct all of the counter-torque away from the operator which makes the tool much more ergonomic to use. Q: I have more questions not answered here.A: Please message us with your specific application so we can provide any guidance we can offer based on the experience we have acquired with anchors so far and we will do what we can to help. We understand your ultimate goal is to get your anchors installed regardless of the tools we provide so let us help you be as successful as possible. Like many things, installation of anchors is not an exact science and there are many variables that can be outside of the "expected" or what might be considered "typical" ranges.
