Description: A contemporary-looking poster in cool blue and white, for the 1987 exhibition at the Hunsaker/Schlesinger Gallery (Santa Monica), of the works of California contemporary artist GREGORY KONDOS (1923-2021). The artist has dedicated the "Beach Day" poster "For Chuck" and signed in pencil and dated 1987, at lower right. Kondos was born in Lynn, Massachusetts near Boston, to Greek parents. He moved to Sacramento in 1927 with the family and showed early art talent, taking classes in Sacramento which were interrupted by his war service. Kondos went on to become a popular contemporary artist, taking most of his subject matter from Greece, the Sacramento Delta area, San Francisco, and other Northern California locales. His airy, contemporary landscapes often project an interesting emptiness and simplicity, with blue colors often present. A painting sold for $55,000 in 2018. This poster is in a creamy laminated frame. Condition is generally good, with some fine blackish spotting at lower left from moisture. The large sheet of glass suggests shipping in a tube for economy and safety---contact me to discuss. (Measures 37" by 27" as framed).
