He is also the Father of Rock 'n Roll's Courtney Love ! The insight in this Book is simply amazing - as just to say that Harrison was on the " inside " would be an understatement - big time. This Book is promoted ( see back cover ) as " A social history of rock and roll - two decades of the Grateful Dead " ... Wow !!! To me, the coolest part of this Dead Book is really the " Time-Capsule " nature - with this being published in 1980 - and ' looking-back ' at this stage in time & place ... Egypt ! just 2-Years prior ! So, the obvious point being that this fine writing is based on the 1965-1980 period - and though it was clear that the Grateful Dead still had a bright future - I'm not sure anybody knew ( remotely ! ) that Touch of Grey ! & Massive ! Stadium Show Tour Sellouts ! were waiting just around the corner - with that ' corner ' being almost a full-decade later ! This focuses on the scene & surrounding Rock 'n Roll scene when it was blooming & blossoming ! If the Late '60's / Early '70's was truly Rock & Roll's ' Prime ' Era - then this one was being written about a decade following. Another interesting thing to ponder when reading ... just think - as MTV - and the MTV Era had still not arrived ! This really makes the timing of this Book right about perfect. Truly one of my own personal favorite ' Vintage ' G.D. reads - and I truly hope it will be one of yours as well ! Pretty nice Art on the Cover too - right ? Wow ... " The Flying Eyeball !!! " - by Alton Kelley !! Fabulous ... Enjoy !!! Item Condition : This Grateful Dead The Dead Book by Hank Harrison ( 1980 ) is a Second ( 2nd ) Printing (please see photos) in overall Good condition. The Covers ( front / back ) show medium-heavy surface wear ( indentations, creasing, surface wear, soiling, residue, etc. ) - please see photos. The inside pages are in overall Very Good condition, with no significant issues to mention - other than some light-medium soiling marks and aging. I flipped through the book, and couldn't really find anything of note damage wise to mention inside - no writing, folding, visible tearing, etc.. I checked it twice, and couldn't find anything to mention. I'm not a book expert by any means, but to me it looks Very Good inside. It is an old book, but I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't in solid condition - which in my opinion, it is. Perfect for a good read, and maybe even as collectible too - if a little aging & patina on your books doesn't bother you. Please see all photos provided.
