Description: Grainger Worcester 229 Hand Painted Cottages Tea Cup Coffee Cup & Saucer C Nice antique early 19th century British bone china sugar tea cup, coffee cup, and saucer trio in a London form / London shape. Decorated with hand painted cottages and other buildings over a pale yellow border. With gold bands above and below and scalloped / arched gilding below. Has a gold leaf band along the inside of the cups. The saucer is marked on the bottom with the pattern number 229. This set is otherwise unmarked, but matches other pieces I have listed separately that are marked Worcester in a red script. Probably Grainger, Lee & Co, Worcester. Circa 1814 to 1839. Has some wear consistent with age and use including some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition. The tea cup measures approximately 4 inches wide including the handle x 2 1/2 inches tall. The coffee cup measures approximately 3 5/8 inches wide including the handle x 2 7/8 inches tall. The saucer measures approximately 5 5/8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece. IV
